Barrington Levy

Recording reggae music for our listening pleasure for over two decades, this huge talent, known as the “Mellow Canary”, was born April 30, 1964, in West Kingston, Jamaica and spent his childhood in Clarendon. This sensational vocalist’s signature riff is easily recognizable – powerful and pure. The original singer of the dancehall era, Barrington Levy was inspired by the great Dennis Brown and many American R&B artists like Michael Jackson & The Jackson 5.

Some of his greatest hit singles and chart-toppers in the 1980s were “Sister Carol”, “Look Youthman”, “Mary Long Tongue”, “Under Mi Sensi”, “Murderer” and “Black Roses”. The 1990s saw this stand-out talent offering us gems like “Here I Come (Broader Than Broadway)”, “Desperate Lover”, “Something in My Heart”, and “Living Dangerously (with Bounty Killer)”.

Jamaica’s #1 singer of all-time tours frequently in North America, Asia and Europe, continuing to thrill us with his wonderful voice and, rumor has it, we’ll be treated to a tune and video with Barrington Levy and Mr. Vegas very soon!

Barrington Levy is ALWAYS at the top of my playlists and I try to catch his wonderful appearances whenever possible. You should too!
