Jake's Resort – Calabash Bay, Treasure Beach

This charming boutique resort is probably one of the best known properties on Jamaica’s South Coast. Part of Island Records founder Chris Blackwell’s Island Outpost chain of unique lodging properties, the resort offers about 25 garden and oceanfront cottages (about 45 rooms) spread throughout a large and lush beachfront property. The “funky tropical” style cottages each has a unique design and color scheme (there are even some Moroccan domes and arches!), and are creations of theatrical designer Sally Henzell. Some have garden-view verandahs, others have decks over the sea, some have A/C and others are cooled by fans and beautiful ocean breezes. There are no TVs but they offer a “media” room for guests’ enjoyment. There are paved pathways to the beach but one unique feature is the saltwater swimming pool. Two on-site restaurants serve wonderful seafood, pizza and Jamaican cuisine. Phone: 876.965.3000, 876.965.0635 or 877.JAMAIC8. Visit them on the web.
