With 20 brightly colored and unique cottages designed by an award-winning Jamaican architect, Ann Hodges, Country Country Beach Cottages sits directly on Seven Mile Beach. This 70-room resort is located directly on Seven Mile Beach. The structure of the lodgings resembles a tree house containing 1-bedroom suites on the ground floor and 2-bedroom suites at the top. The 2-bedroom suites have large bathrooms, full size fridge, DVD player, cable TV, and remote-controlled A/C. Outside every room is a hammock on a private deck. Sandwiched between Sandals and Beaches resorts, Our Past Time Villas has occupied a prime spot at the beginning of Seven Mile Beach for 30 years. The 17 tasteful rooms were recently renovated with a Caribbean motif and have private tiled baths, cable TV, A/C and private balconies or verandahs. There are a few rooms with kitchenettes. Most rooms have outstanding ocean views. This was one of the first small hotels on Seven Mile Beach and the owners regularly upgrade it and maintain the attractively landscaped grounds. This recently constructed hotel with old-fashioned charm features 21 rooms surrounded by lush tropical gardens and is located across the street from Seven Mile Beach. Rondel Village is situated on the both sides of Norman Manley Boulevard with villas, beachfront and superior rooms on Negril’s beautiful 7-mile Beach and garden rooms on the landside across the street from the beach. Sunset at the Palms Resort – Norman Manley Boulevard (on Bloody Bay)
Okay, okay – we said we wouldn’t bore you with all-inclusives, but this property has kind of a unique design, is one of the few reasonably priced options in the surrounding area, and has received Green Globe’s Certificate for Environmentally Sustainable Tourism, so it qualifies as an eco-tourism resort. Formerly the Negril Cabins Resort, Sunset at the Palms is just across the road from five beachfront acres on Bloody Bay, about a 60-minute drive from Montego Bay, and is actually in Hanover Parish. It offers 65 treehouse-style wood cabins on stilts spread over 10 acres of lush tropical gardens. The cabins have all been renovated and there is a lovely pool and Jacuzzi. The food is reportedly great and they also offer room service food & drink. Tropical Breeze Guest House - Negril Roundabout area
Owned and operated by Canadian born Karen Hill, the budget-friendly Tropical Breeze Guest House offers a convenient location on a quiet residential cul-de-sac very close to the roundabout where 7 Mile beach and West End Road meet. This puts you within a few minutes’ walk from shops, restaurants/bars, banks, Juici Patties, Negril's craft market, grocery stores and, of course, the beach! No need for taxis. The main guest house rooms are comfortable, clean and attractively decorated; some have private bathrooms, some have private entrances and some have balconies. Oasis Resort offers 26 spacious and bright tropically-decorated rooms in 2-story buildings, each with private bath and balcony. Situated on the westernmost point of Jamaica, the Rockhouse is located on the cliffs about 2 ½ miles west of Negril, stretching across Pristine Cove. Tensing Pen Resort – West End
Once known as a hippy-ish refuge in the 1960s and 1970s, Tensing Pen is peacefully secluded along the West End road of Negril, in the area known as the cliffs. It sits on a black coral bluff and offers elegant yet rustic thatched hut accommodations. The collection of guest rooms varies from simple bungalows up to the private great house. Spacious rooms are tastefully furnished in a Caribbean style; bright and airy, and have baths with walk-in showers, refrigerators and verandahs. Strewn throughout a lovely 2-acre jungle of tropical vegetation, the huts are each unique and are fashioned from wood and cut stone. Complimentary breakfasts are served in a large thatch roof kitchen facility which can also be used by guests. A pool is a relatively recent addition. This rustic boutique hotel is nestled on its own private cove; there is no sandy beach but there are ladders leading to the water for swimming, good snorkeling and access to the natural caves under the cliffs. Xtabi Resort - Lighthouse Road, West End
Yes, the furnishings are simple, rustic and a bit outdated, but Xtabi gives you a taste of the old days - a laid-back and relaxed Negril. Xtabi offers a nice variety of accommodations: private one or two-story seafront cottages nestled into the cliffs with sundecks, or garden/poolside rooms and bungalows across the street. Some have kitchenettes, some (the newer ones) have A/C, some have cable TV and others do not. All have private bathrooms, fans and a verandah or balcony, and no building is higher than a palm tree. Snorkeling is great here along the cliffs and the views are spectacular. If you’re looking for luxury and every amenity under the sun, Xtabi will not make you happy. But those seeking a cozy and romantic spot for pure relaxation with some charm and natural beauty should enjoy this friendly resort, and the rates are very reasonable if you are budget-minded. The resort is located in the middle of the cliffs so there are a lot of good eating places, bars and the beach within easy walking distance. On a lush tropical acre of orchids, fruit trees and exotic flowers, Tansobak is a 2-story, octagonal-shaped cottage that sits on the waterfront in the small fishing community of Little Bay, 12 miles south of Negril. Each floor is available separately with different room and bath configurations, and each floor features a large sea-view verandah. The furniture is hand-crafted from Jamaican cedar and guango (a.k.a. monkey pod). The lovely building is clean but there is only “sun-warmed” water (bathe late in the day after the sun has done its job!).
